Inspiration sources: After a visit to the Frick, I’d been obsessed with Franz Hals’ portrait of an unidentified man. I’ve also been studying Xiomara Bender’s new book, “Waiting for the Rainbow”, a photographic journey through North Korea. These two artists have inspired this painting.
